On Reproduction is a one-day RISO workshop by Sessssion taking place on Saturday February 8th from 11.00 until 16.00. For more information and to sign up please go here.
"With our workshop "On Reproduction" we're collectively researching reproduction within images and artworks using Walter Benjamin's "The work of art in the age of mechanical reproduction" as thesis for our research. Everyone brings images which we will reprint on a risograph and structure into a booklet. The workshop is meant as a practical exercise in reproduction where the core question asked is: how does an image (read:artwork) change in value (aura) when reproduced? Does it change at all? Does it lose something and if so, can we register this change?" -
On the 15th of February we’re opening a new in-store exhibition called Being There by Dutch photographer Bouwe Brouwer. Bouwe has been making books, zines and other special publications by hand since 1996. First as an illustrator, then as an internationally acclaimed writer of haiku and short stories, and since 2013 as a photographer. Starting of with simple xeroxed and stapled zines it quickly evolved in handbound hardcover books and portfolio’s in various shapes and sizes.
Being There shows a selection of Bouwe’s black and white street photography, capturing poetic scenes, comedic situations and visual juxtapositions of everyday life.
Join us for a drink at the opening, have a chat with Bouwe and enjoy the exhibition!

For this five-day physical workshop in Arnhem, Netherlands, Jack Whitefield and Brad Feuerhelm will return for their second Interrogating Site workshop. The proposal is to work with a small group of dedicated bookmakers to create a Risograph photobook during the workshop. This workshop will be held at Wolf Books in Arnhem, the premier vintage and contemporary photobook shop in Europe.
The theme of the workshop is Division of Labor. This is a workshop in which work already in progress is encouraged and work may also be made on site with assignments designed. With DOL, we propose a workshop that participants explore the theme of labor, work, and encourage them to push the remit toward a wide conclusion which will be used to make a limited-edition artist book with all participants included. The idea of labor can relate to performance, art labor, craft, and labor and spaces of labor.
There will be assignments during the week for participants to make work in Arnhem, we will then concentrate on editing and designing the final risograph book together with Jack and the team at Wolf Books for an immersive and communal experience. The book itself is an object of labor. We will consider this very fact while designing it.For more information or to sign up please go to Nearest Truth Workshops.
